Attendance

Attendance: Regular attendance at school is mandatory and is the responsibility of each student and her or her family. We believe that success in school goes hand in hand with attendance.  When you are absent from school, the following must happen:

  • Your parent or guardian must call on the day or days you are absent.  This way, the absences are cleared immediately.

  • If your parent or guardian does not or can not call on the day(s) you are absent, you will need a note explaining your absence. Report to the office before school on the day you return with your note to clear your absence.

If you need an “off-grounds pass”: Students can go to the front office before school with a note from the parent or guardian stating when the student is to leave school. The parent or guardian coming to pick up the student must come into the front office. The student will come to the front office at the designated time. Upon the student’s return, the off-grounds pass must be signed by a parent and brought back into the office. If the student misses more days, an additional note is required to clear the absences. We are always willing to get your student in the event of an emergency. Note: We will only release the student to adults who are listed on the student’s emergency card and that person must be at least 18-years-old.

If you arrive late to school: Students arriving after the second bell must pick up a tardy pass from the front office to enter class. After repeated tardies, families receive Truancy Letter #1 upon the 5th tardy. From there they will enter the School Attendance Review Team/Board (SART/SARB) process.

If you are absent from school, the following must happen: Your parent or guardian must call on the day or days you are absent. This way, the absences are cleared immediately. If your parent or guardian does not or cannot call on the day(s) you are absent you will need a note explaining your absence. Report to the office before school on the day you return with your note to clear your absence. If the absence is not cleared, it will be considered “truancy”. Students are responsible for making up any missed work.

If you move during the school year, the following must happen: It is very important the school has a correct address and phone number for all of our students at all times. When you change residency or phone numbers, please notify the office. Four proofs of residency will be required.

Protecting teaching time: Parents, we need your help.  Please make arrangements for your students prior to their coming to school.  The teachers are losing precious teaching time when we interrupt classes to send notes to students, passes for doctor's appointments, P.E. Clothes, lunch money or other non-emergency reasons.

  • When your student forgets something at home and calls you to deliver it to the school, let them know to stop by the office at lunch or milk break to see if it has arrived.

  • Have a back-up plan with your student when you are going to be late picking him or her up.  For instance they could sit in front of the office for 10 minutes and then call home.
